Hi there I bought a 50Pk of Dynex DVD+R Media from Besy Buy.
It was on sale for $8.99 USD. That is dirt cheap!
Anyhow, I scanned the MID with Nero and it shows :

is that right, cant be Dynex ?

or fakes ?

or is it my lucky day ? :)

There is no way in hell that Verbatim would allow Dynex to use their MID code. Those are not verbatims, stay away from Dynex.

Dynex usually uses CMC and ironically CMC manufactures Verbatim's DVDs at their plant (CMC's plant) Maybe a rogue batch of Verbs made their way into the CMC bin?

I've also heard stories that Dynex and some of the other lesser brands like nexxtech get the assorted rejects from other manufacturers so there could be many reasons for this mix up. I wouldn't use those for anything important or anything at all if I were you.

EDIT: Also, the BCIB firmware is out for the 1655 in case you didn't know. ;)

yeah thanks for the info and the firmware update.
Ill probably use those Dynex to backup movies for friends, family etc.
but like you said definitely not for anything important.
I actually examined them a little closer physically and noticed a lot of imperfections.the dye on some of the dvd's has major flaws. parts of it looks like its been smudged off and the dyes a lot lighter in color, almost like it had used already. There were also all these little white specks all around the outer ring.
Pure Garbage. I guess I got what i paid for. lol

actually theres one good thing about them, they are DVD+R's I can booktype them !

I read somewhere that Dynex purchases 'seconds' from various manufacturers

Those MCC coded Dynex discs most likely are genuine . . they just failed Verbatim quality control for some reason or another

Yeah thats what I meant about Dynex getting the rejects. Most likely they are verb rejects.

So basically those discs are MCC's throw aways that never made it.
ok that makes sense. atleast theyre MCC rejects rather than CMC rejects.
lol

These are FAKES. They use an MCC media code for better compatibility with a wider range of burners, just like Playo (Staples) and NexxTech (Circuit City) do, but they are most certainly NOT Verbs. Verbatim media is not and has never been made in CHINA or HONG KONG, which is where these come from. Genuine Verbatim media is only made in Singapore, Taiwan, and India.
