I got a new pc case from my girlfriend on my birthday.
One of the dogs pulled it off the desk & now the front door is broken.
To make matters worse,
the door fell off when i was converting something with convertxtodvd,
( i forgot it automatically ejects your discs).
Anyway, now my side fan isnt working.
i can see where the wire is snapped if i slowly open the door.
I decided to strip the pc & try to sort it but when i reconnected the wires there was a burning smell coming from the pc.
I turned everything off,
reopened it & noticed the wires had been melting.
Does anyone know how i can fix my side fan??
Any help is welcome, Thanks
It depends. It could be the PSU, motherboard, graphics card, cpu, etc. Try smelling around and see which parts are smelling the most. Also, what wires were melting? Were they toughing anything hot such as a heatsink?
The wires that were melting were connected to my side fan.
They travel through the case & into the door on the front of the case.
I can see all the wires between one of the hinges & so,
decided to take it apart & try to fix it.
As far as i can tell the wires arent touching anything hot.
I can see all the wires behind the fan on the front as well.
if they are melted means they grounded out somewhere. either they are touching one another some where, or they are touching the case somewhere. I would recommend replacing the fan all together instead of trying to fix that one.
