Original CF Supercard/Superkey ?

I am trying to play "homebrew" nds games on my original ds with the use of a superkey & a CF Supercard. I follow the instructions on the boards of using the Supercard software to patch the .nds roms & copy to the CF card. Everything goes well until the game loads. I am able to select it on the DS from the GUI it counts up & loads, but then both ds screens just go blank & nothing after that. Is the Supercard CF version not compatible with this setup ? I did try different CF memory cards also.
