Crysis doesn't properly support Anti-Aliasing, so I'd advise you not to use it at all for the game, no matter how powerful your graphics card is. However, the HD3850 shoud have no problem playing the game at 1024x768 all high with a frame rate of around 30-40fps average. If you're running Vista, I'd avoid using the 'very high' setting as that may run quite slowly.

yeah...there isn't a graphics card that can run the game on ultra high setting and keeping a decent frame rate...but there will be one soon enough

Not for Shaders and shadows and world detail, no. However, I must mention the fact that all the other options in that panel, Sound quality, water quality, texture quality and so on make pretty much no difference to the frame rate, so go nuts!

very high is not realy needed high shuld be good enough that way it looks realy good without the extra memory and other requirements being pushed even further and i would use 2x or 4x if this card is equivelent to a good 8800 or something i wuld go with the 8800 if necessery but i ask about a radeon card because the mobo i might be getting due to budget supports crosfire not sli but just because its a $198 mobo doesn't mean its crap its actualy quite good just not set out very well for the ide (dvd drive) i use sata other wise

If you're spending $200 on a motherboard, don't have a single reason to dislike it. For that sort of money you should be getting top end stuff. Crossfire's a complete waste of time, so if that's your upgrade plan I'd rethink. Save your money, buy a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R and either an HD3850 or preferably an HD3870 if you can afford one, and you'll have a PC that can play games at superb image quality settings for quite some time to come.

It's about 30" diagonally, funnily enough...
Lol what a thing to say! I mean really...
I love it for the size, but it's not just that. The resolution I like just as much if not more. 2560x1600 just lets you do so much more on one screen you never thought possible. Multi-tasking like you wouldn't believe, or sickening view ranges in Real time strategy games.

Funny that, seeing as there are over a dozen people at my LAN party who own Dell monitors, not a single one has ever had a single dead pixel or fault. I can't speak for Dell PCs but their monitors are superb.

Oh and by the way, posts in all bold, double posting, and generally sounding like a retard are frowned upon in this forum.

cybrspwn, Dell monitors are actually very good. Most of the regulars here know what they are talking about so calling them "not so smart" is not a smart thing to do. Also I would suggest you spend about 50 AUD more and get a HD 3870, it much better.

GTR, About the HD 3850 512, hmm faster... well no. More RAM means you can turn up the textures though. Also I noticed you go off topic a lot? Where the hell is a monitor mentioned before? lol

I think the monitor came up because GTR asked me to post a picture of mine, which is a Dell Ultrasharp 3007WFP.
As for the 512MB version of the HD3850, I'd highly recommend getting it over the 256. The overall frame rate won't change much, but there will be some games where you'll get a ridiculously low frame rate with the 256, or the game won't run at all (if you run out of video memory). This is particularly known to happen with Crysis, and happens with some other titles at high resolutions. It doesn't happen often at 1680x1050 at the moment, but give it time and it might.

Or maybe, well I didn't want to say this lol, he is just making useless posts?

It's ok GTR, we all did it. Also I have another nagging thing in the back of my mind, can you please stop using so many ellipsis, it's annoying. I have nothing against you, the ellipsis just annoy me :)

No hard feelings.

Misspelled it, it's fixed now. I know he is not the only one that does it... lp351 does it too... but using them as periods... or other forms of punctuation... just doesn't work...
