And by the way, I did do a search. Even used the how to search thread!

The reason I've become interested in modding a wii is because Super Smash Bros. Brawl won't be out in England for a while, so I thought I'd try and grab an American version and play it. This is where you, the lovely forum come in.

What is involved in modding a wii? I'm guessing theres no software I could use? (The easy route.)

Are there people you can hire to install these things? Which ones are good? Would it be possible to just import an American Wii instead and therefore play the game on that? (I'm assuming that would just require some plug adapters? Or would I need a different TV?) Can you ever completely ruin a wii by "bricking" it? Thus making it unplayable? Could someone link me to a Wii roms site? (I think I saw some members talking about these. If my Wii was modded, could I play these?)

I'm aware the majority of these questions would be adressed on the site somewhere, if I searched for each individual question...bt that sounds like it'd take an awful long time!

Thank you.

There are people you can buyoff a modded wii (I wouldnt install it unless you trust yourself). Wiikey is a fine modchip to use. For Brawl it depends on your wii. You said you're going to use the American verison(thats NTSC) now if you get a European wii thats Pal. If you get a Pal wii(European) and you use an NTSC game(Super Smash Brawl USA) you might what to use wiiblocker and update your firmware. This is to avoid bricking your wii. If you get a NTSC wii and use Brawl(American version) you wii be fine. It is still a good idea to update firmware and your wiikey. As for Roms, you should try the Torrent site.

I am new to this as well. I am actually looking to see is there a way to mod for my son to play a Japanese game on a US Wii? The game is Gekitou Ninja Taisen EX 2. Any help appreciated. I guess he is saying this is the greatest of games to him.

Thanks for any help.

If you install the Wiikey and turn region override on then it will work.

That sounds fairly simple Ndarkness. However what is the risk of bricking with that? And what, in exact terms, is bricking? Is it ever permanent?

Anyone wanna give any answers to my earlier questions about just importing an American Wii?
