Can you rip a dvd to h.264 via quicktime or do you have to do it another way?

here is a quick look at H.264: http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/h264.cfm
....... it's a codec.... so when you refer to ripping to H.264 what do you mean? you want to use H.264 when you transcode your DVD to MPEG4s....or other formats? there are plenty of programs that incorporate H.264 for ripping to MPEG-4s and other formats.

Thanks for the link and the clarification. Yes, I want to use H.264 to transcode my dvd to an MPEG4 using that codec. Quicktime pro wasn't allowing to do that.

try SUPER..... you can choose to use H.264! You can use DVDFab Platinum to convert to iPod and then set the settings to use H.264! That's just two conversion programs.... I'm sure there are more.

You could try handbrake. It's open source and great for ripping DVDs to h.264. I'm not sure if it will upconvert to HD though...
