I Maybe getting a computer from a friend,
im going to give it as a gift to my cuzin,
My friend told me that the high speed internet card quit working,
and they just wanted to get a newer tower.

Its a emachines etower(with Windows 2000),
everything works on it accept the high speed card,
but thats not my question,
my question here is,
During the time they have had the computer,
i remember my friend complaining about it,
becuase it had so many viruses in it,
and her stepdad used to lookup porn,go on gambling sites,ect
i dont think she ever removed the viruses,or spyware
or ever did a windows update,
that was thier first computer,
they got it given to them,
from a church,
when they moved to california
but anyway,what im saying is,
no telling what kind of state i might get this computer in,
so what do i do,
i know it DOES NOT have any system disks,
i dont kno what is inside the tower,
so if u ever wanted to reformat and startover,
i wouldent know what drivers to download,
and i dont have a windows 2000 disk either

so this is where you guys comein,
any suggestions,

like how to save this computer,when i get it,
if i have to when i get it i`ll go buy a new networking card,
so i can download updates,and spyware removers ect,

but any suggestions on what i should do?

Windows 2000 OS, will not allow you to make system changes without first entering or reseting the administrators password.

Brand emachines. What series and model? If you do not have this information. You will need to contact emachines tech support. http://www.emachines.com/support/

If the OS is not partitioned on the HDD, you will need to find a new or used set of recovery CD's.

The Ethernet may start working after a full recovery, if intergrated. If it has a PCI card, may need to install the drivers seperately.

okay,
well when i get the tower ill get the password,
its just i dont wanna reformat,
like what good software should i use,
to cleen it out,
like the viruses,and spyware.
do u see what im sayin?

Receiving a PC from another party which is not functioning properly with no history of what was done to the OS and trying to clean it and so forth, may yield mixed results. This is why I suggest a full recovery, for starters! However, I can understand you not wanting to purchase recovery CD's for an old computer. When you get this PC and are ready to proceed. Get back to us, and someone will further assist you.
