It seems that most of the people contend that for the most part Taiyo Yuden & Verbatim are probably the most reliable, non coaster producing media (CD-R & DVD-R) around. I know some say it doesn?t matter but like I said most of you seem to agree on that. I Have a Samsung burner that came with my Gateway GT5056 and I want to get the best results on my CD?s & DVD?s. I notice that both of these media have what looks to be speeds (1X52) written on the packaging. Is there a particular speed to write or burn that gives the best results, or does that depend on the Media. Also when I have gone to Sites that sell these Media?s they have different ones for different prices. Being a simple man (Cheap but smart) I would like to know your recommendations for the best quality/most reliable & lowest price media for both CD?s & DVD?s and where to purchase them. If you have any other tips that will help insure great results, well, I?m all ears, and by the way the doctor?s are looking into that as we speak.
Thanks ahead of time

for CD-R media the Taiyo Yuden is very good but you can find Sony or Fujifilm local at a better price so go with either of theses brands and you will be ok. burn speed for CD-R is best at 16x to 24x
for DVDs yes Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim is the best out there they can be had online or in B&M stores so look around for the best deals anywhere from 22 cent to 25 cents each is a good price. the best burn speed for DVD is between 4x and 8x max.
Best online vendors are
supermediastore.com , meritline.com or rima.com
B&M stores
Best Buys, Staples, Office Depot etc.
Look at the sale prices post in this forum also some great deals
I agree. With Cd-r, you can sometimes get really good quality with Sony like he said. Every now and then I may stray off and even get a pack of Maxells.. but thats me. As for DVD.. you really want to stay with either Verbatim or TY. Its just worth it. I know sometimes people buy in to something that is just name brand recognized, but this is not the case. These disc are a lot better quality because they use a lot better dye. You can find good deals out there and depending on what and how many you need, there is a Taiyo Yuden value line that are cheaper in price, but still have the Taiyo Yuden name.
These discs are not better because of the dye. Other brands use the same dyes. These discs are "better" because the manufacturing processes may be tighter or because the MID codes are better supported or a combination of both.
