I use these often. They work brilliantly, with one big flaw. You cannot press LT and RT both at once, the PC won't recognise it, since the trigger buttons are variably sensitive, they are set as an axis, which of course can't be both up and down at once.

Some games support the controllers natively. Quite a few don't. Don't worry though, you can download a fabulous program called Xpadder to help you out with it. Simply make a profile for each game and you can choose which buttons on the controller act like which keys on the keyboard or motion on the mouse. This effectively means you can customise the controls for any of your games even if they don't let you do so.
Xpadder can be found here:

make a profile for each game what do you mean?
like make a folder where the game is saved and put xpadder in that in folder?
for example: C:/programs/games/xpad/xpadder.file

Put xpadder anywhere you like, shove all your profiles in one folder, and then simply run the one appropriate to the game you want to play.

hey i just installed and connect the controller to my computer.
i did the lay out of the buttons on the xpadder and saved my controller profile but i cant seem to get the controller to work with the game.
i tryed the buttons and they light up correctly in xpadder but the X in the middle with the lights says #1 but at times it just starts flashing is that normal?
im trying it on COD4
oh btw how to you turn off the controller? lol i tryed holding the X button in the middle didnt work
ok well i tryed it for need for speed most wanted and there was a area where i could switch between the keyboard and the 360 controller but it seems that my two analog sticks dont go perfectly back to the middle but its very close but in the game it turns me alot
i treid to turn down the sensativity but it doesnt seem to help
thanks

That's a deadzone issue. Set that in the game controllers menu in windows control panel. By upping your deadzones you will increase how far you have to stick before it registers, but also get the stick centred for tiny amounts of movement. Find the best balance. As for the controller light flashing, I've no idea, but if your 360 is plugged in or on at the same time, that can cause huge issues. We have to unplug our console from the mains to use the pads with the PC. As for turning the controller off, take the battery out.

You don't need to use the controller mode for Need for speed, just make an xpadder profile.
Example set Up on the keyboard to A or RT, set down on the keyboard to B or LT, and so on.

Yes, you have! lol
You could always go into the options and write them down, but to be honest, most games of the same genre have similar controls. The Action/Use button may differ, but walk, strafe, crouch, lean and fire are usually always the same.

It recognised the play and charge kit as a 360 controller? It shouldn't... The wireless dongle is what it should recognise.

You'll almost certainly have to use Xpadder to run it with counter-strike.
