Power on a receiver, now thats a tough question. The system of yours is a 5x120 watt speaker system (except the powered sub, or is it non powered?). In theory you would need a 600 watt amp to do the job. HOWEVER at peak power receivere (amps) are measured at higher distortion levels and hence the distortion is detrimental to the speakers. As a rule, I would add 50% to the power output ( to stay in the linear output region) and hence use a receiver that puts out 180 watts per channel. As a secondary condition, the receiver must be high current also for proper bass reproduction. I prefer preamp/processor and amp combos. Sure they cost more, buth they sound great and worth the money. Try the link to Outlaw audio ( yes they are a legit place in the ol' USA) and check out their pre/pro and amp combo (model 990 pre/pro at $899 and model 7500 amp at $1599 ) for true home theatre.
