LVW-5005sx failing to read old recorded dvd

Hi to all,

I purchased a Lite-On DVD recorder model LVW-5005sx in September 2006 and I had no problems for the last 3 months. Since I had it, I recorded close to 300 movies without any problems.

Now, I started to notice that it will not read it's own recorded dvd that were recorded more than 30 days ago. I don't think that my dvd's are degrading that fast. I suspect that the laser might be getting weak and will have to replace the dvd burner inside.

There was another thread about this problem but I could not add to the thread since the thread is now dead and the system won't let me reply.

Does anyone else got the same problem reading their old recorded dvd's and was a solution found?
