pcu not running near listed ghz.

Windows XP, 250gig harddrive, 1 gig ram,PCChips P17G Motherboard CPU Bundle - Intel Pentium D 925 Processor 3.0GHz OEM. Just flashed the BIOS and the problem is, my core cpu speed runs at just 2400.1 MHz(checked with cpu-z), it should be reading closer to 3000. The pc has froze at times for no reason and i'd have to hold the power button down to shut it off. When i start the pc, it says 3.0GHz on the startup screen. But there is nothing in the BIOS bout core speed. So my question is, is there anything i can do to get my speed up to where it should be running at? Or just best call Intel and ask them about this and see what they suggest?

You probably have EIST enabled. Go to your BIOS and shut that off to get your normal clock speed.

A friend of mine told me to make sure i have the shunts positioned coorectly...which i didn't. Got them on in the right places and now the core speed is up where it should be when under a heavy load. The simplist things can make a difference.

Abuzar, i will get in my BIOS and check that and see bout changing it. Thank you.
