hi i was hoping if someone would be able to give me some direction in the way of computer protection.
i'm currently using:
avg free 7.5
super ad blocker
ad-aware se personal
tuneup utilities pro
outpost firewall pro
ninja surfing
peerguidian2
with all these programs i am worried bout one blocking out the other. two or more of these programs cover: ad ware and spy ware problems. so i am worried i am about them blocking each other out and leaveing my computer unprotected.
Safer browsing with FireFox and those extensions, Outpost Firewall and Avast AV should keep you safe. Run Ad-Aware every so often to clear out junk cookies etc from browsing the web.
I was gonna say to get rid of AVG, and get Avira Antivir PersonalEdition. That's what I was recently told to do. Should I now dump THAT and get Avast?
Still gonna recommend that billy89 keeps Peerguardian, and suggest adding Spyware Terminator.
when you need even more protection, get the free "returnil". I use it as my last line of defense in case something gets through all my other defenses.
What the program does is put your computer into virtual mode instantaneously (everything you do while in virtual mode runs in memory). If you go into the wrong website and it changes your homepage or adds entrys to your registry, when you reboot it's gone. You can try out programs or new wallpapers etc, when you reboot your back to normal.
The best part of this program is you can go into virtual mode only when you need to, like before surfing the internet. You only need to reboot to get out of virtual mode. I've used it on 3 different computers with no issues. Just remember when your on virtual mode nothing is saved on your system hard drive drive, anything you want to download and save you must put it on a sepereate partition. If you only have one partition, the program creates a "returnil" partition file during installation, this file is mounted and acts as a partition and can be use to store important files while in virtual mode.
