Newbie having trouble viewing movies...PLEASE HELP!

Recently I have been having trouble viewing movies on my computer. Regardless of the file type or the player type, my computer just atuomatically restarts after I view a movie file after a certian period of time. Can anybody help?? Thanks in advance
