Hi everyone, I would definitely classify myself as a beginner in this field. I have anime dvd's I am trying to burn, and then I want to edit them in Nero or Moviemaker and create my own video with just the parts I want. I am familiar with how to make my own movies and edit video and all of that, but I have no idea how to get the subtitles to work.
Since I'm going to be editing the burned dvd's, I want them to have permanent subtitles before I import them into the editing software. I have downloaded over a dozen different programs and followed half a dozen different guides on how to do this, but everytime I've gotten an error or the process finished, but without the permanent subtitles I want.
Oh, I'll just add that I'm not trying to write my own subtitles, I'm perfectly happy with the ones that are already on the DVD. I would just like to burn it so when I open the file the subtitles are permanently there. Thanks!
Actually, I found a much easier way to do it (through a lot of trial and error).
The main programs I used were dvd Decrypter, Avisynth, AutoGK, and SupRip. There might have been some other things needed that I already had d/l on my computer from trying other methods, but I'm not sure.
I have another problem now though, because this method worked perfectly once, but every time I've tried since, 2-3 different subs are appearing.
Anyways, I popped the dvd into my drive, and decrypted with dvd decrypter. I then used SubRip on that VOB file to create a .srt sub text file.
I then used AutoGK, Ctrl+F8 to add the .srt, and then converted to avi. The first time I did this it worked perfectly, and I still have the file saved and everything (imported this to moviemaker, works fine, except when I save the project and try to open I always get an error and forced shutdown).
Everytime I've tried this method since though, there are 2-3 subtitles showing. They are exactly the same words, but more than one set and they overlap and mess the whole thing up.
I tried keeping the .srt file, but deleting the VOB, re-decrypting it but without the subtitles (unchecked that box via stream processing) and then used the new VOB in AutoGK, with the .srt file, but again no luck.
Not sure what to do now? And why it worked the first time but not again? Does it have something to do with the boxes in the advanced options of AutoGK?
It may be that more than one program are competing to show the subtitles.
If you were using Windows Media Player and for example FFDSHow is also installed, both try to show them.
In this case make sure that when using WMP, that the subs are turned off.
