My utorrent downloads won't go further than 5kb/s SOMETIMES very rarely it goes up to like 10-12kb/s, I see so many people get downloads of about 250kb/s+ and I want to know if anyone knows how I could increase mine.
I've already been on loads of websites to tweak the settings and it doesn't work. I've also done the portforwarding properly and it still doesn't change anything.
I am currently using a BT home hub router.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

I may be wrong, but if you opened ports in your router you should also make exceptions in your windows firewall. But the important thing is - exceptions not by location or name of the program but by the port number (both TCP and UDP). It works for me this way but the easier way is to use UPnP. If you use UPnP you don't need to open any ports, just mark this option in p2p program and in router.

I'm a little confused.
On the website I went on which had the instructions I followed it said to disable the Windows firewall and leave the UPnP box unchecked on the settings which I have done.
However I do have another firewall which is enabled - Mcafee along with my Anti Virus system.
Would that be a problem at all?
And yes I did do my portforwarding by code, I chose the code 45682.
And do you think that what you're saying is easier, I'm a little confused on what you said though, could you explain a little bit more?
Because what I interpreted from your answer was that I had to check the UPnP box and do nothing to the Firewall?
Sorry I'm not very good with stuff like this :P

Hmmm....well I've checked and unchecked all boxes and given it time to see if it helps the download or not and it doesnt.
I've also tried a few other port numbers and it's the same thing.
I'm also wondering why I only connect to like 2-4 seeds and no more, even when there are always 70+ because I know that the less peers you have connecting with you the slower the download :|

okay i don't mean to keep adding on to problems but i have that same issue going on. even for something where i should have hundreds of seeds.. it's like i am severely restricted no matter what i do.

Try going to options>preferences>bittorrent and raise Global maximum connections and maximum connected peers to 250 - 350. Enable both DHT options there but only for public sites, not private.
