Am I setting up my LG incorrectly ?

I just brought home an LG 32LC7D, and I love the picture.

However, I've one question that isnt answered in either the manual, or the cdrom :

When I'm tuned into an HD station, I get the black vertical borber on both sides of the screen, that I was expecting to see. However, when tuned to a NON HD station, that border is grey,,,which I dont like.

Am I doing something wrong?

MOst likely not, but may be a feature of the TV itself. A call to LG cust svc is warranted.
