Hello,

Well here goes.

I'm running a netopia router/dsl modem. Everything works perfect until i attempt p2p connections. For about 15 minutes the connection is excellent and then ....... stuck. The only way to regain control of the computer is to do a hard restart of the netopia.

What i've tried to do to resolve the problem:

Used several other bt clients (Azureus, BitComet, Bittorrent...)
Adjusted Global Max. connections among other settings.
Switched the netopia to bridged ethernet coupled w/ Rasppoe.
Added an alternate nic card.
Disabled all non-essential programs running.
And yes, a virus scan.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

In continuation,

I've added peerguardian which appears to indicate a mass of anti-p2p groups doing port scans followed by a Denial of Service attack.

Added, xnetstat...unfortunately every time i try to alter something it crashes the connection. (ie. ban ip)

Are there any other programs which would help bypass this problem.

Thank you again in advance for any solutions.

Try disabling UPnP, for Azureus here: http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/UPnP in utorrent at options>preferences>connection.

not using upnp.

currently using zonealarm with torrent client as trusted.
port assignment usually within 60000+ range.
encryption is set to either enabled or forced.

Albeit, i don't think the client is the problem.

Problem resolved.

Apparently, Zonealarm archived versions cause the problem.

Solution: Upgraded ZoneAlarm to current version.

Hope this helps anybody else experiencing this problem.

Note: According to the researched thread to solve the problem their is still incompatibility w/ xp sp 2.
