What's best for ripping HD-DVD and BluRay ?

Just installed my LG HD/Bluray SuperMulti drive that arrived today.

Rented 3 movies (2 BluRay / 1 HD-DVD) to test.

I popped in the HD-DVD and noticed when I did, a window popped up showing the root folder. I tried just for fun to see if I could copy the .EVO files straight over to hard drive, and to my surprise IT WORKED. (I did not have AnyDVD or any other program running at that time). But, playing the .EVO files from hard drive with PowerDVD 7.3 just showed black screen :(

Right now I'm using DVDFab HD Decrypter to rip it - it's still doing so.

Are there any other good ripping programs for HD-DVD/Bluray ? Preferably something that will take off any protection, but I'm GUESSING that's why I can't use the "capture frame" function with PowerDVD 7.3 when playing straight from disc. "C" does nothing and the capture frame icon is greyed out.
