Is there any program that will allow you to back up a swapmagic 3 dvd disk - version 3.8?

it's useless. the only way you would get the copied swapmagic to work is with a modchip. but since you have a modchip, you don't need swapmagic anymore.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

i have researched this myself
and aparently there is a way
when it is first made it has
bad sectors burned on it on purpose
thats why just doing a straight copy from
one disc to another will not work

turns out the only way to do this is to create an iso
i recommend dvd decrypter or alcohol 120%
once done mount the iso to a virtual drive

then use nero to copy the mounted iso
so you select the drive where you have mounted
the iso and copy it as if it was just a normal disc

the majority of the time this works

no. using dvd decrypter/nero/alcohol 120% won't work, because the bad sectors are pressed onto the disc. only cd companies and game companies have the cd presser.

if we could just use dvd decrypter and nero to copy games, then it would work right away. there would be no need for swap magic then.

Nothing to do with bad sectors.. The media type (pressed) is written on part of the disk no burner can burn. Then theres the positional security which sony inherited from sega.
