Can I use a Microsoft Media Center remote with Nero 7?

I have a Microsoft Media Center remote control, and I would like to use it on my XP SP2 system with Nero 7 Ultimate Enhanced (not sure if that would be Nero Showtime or Nero Home). I would be playing back DVDs, and either DVD rips (VIDEO_TS folder), or MP4 from Nero Recode (the format I ultimately use will depend on which works better with the remote).

There will be no keyboard or mouse on this system and so I will need to be able to invoke the player using the remote (or I could add the player to the Startup group if necessary but I will still need to be able to navigate to the file to be played using the remote).

The plan is for it to be a poor man's HTPC. I tried Vista Media Center and was not impressed with they way VMC handles VIDEO_TS playback, so I thought I'd try Nero 7 on XP, since I already own them both.

Should it be possible to use this remote with Nero 7? If yes, any pointers to how to set this up would be much appreciated.
