i have a plextor px716a dl i had to restore my computer to the factory settings the plextor is a add on i'm using dvd clone and any dvd software also tried nero but still get the same thing will burn some of the way and read bad media some not at all using tdk+r also tried sony -r they worked before could my drive be bad it burns cd's just fime

any help would be grateful

make sure you have the latest firmware update for the Plextor which is 1.11 you can get it here

TDK codes out as cmc mag which isn't very good media .so your best choice is Taiyo Yuden (this is the brand Plextor test there drives with) or use Verbatim . also keep your burn speed bewteen 4x and 8x max
