My Swap Magic 3.6 is not working please help.

I got a Swap Magic for christmas and i have a slim ps2 so i got the flip top cover with it not the magic keys. After i finally got my isos (which took forever) I burned the game (Katamari Damacy) with IMGBURN at the speed of 4x on a Memorex DVD-R. After that i put in the tool for the ps2 slim and i tried out my game. The first time i did it, it worked nice and fast. About half hour into the game though my game started geting slowdowns and the music got choppy. Also my ps2 was making a scary clicking noise like something was hit the disk. So i shut off the ps2 for a while and about and later i try the game again and it doesnt work!

-First the swap magic itself wasnt being read at all both the cd and dvd version it kept on going to the browser menu and after it read the disk the disk would stop spinning so it wouldnt work and then spin again.

-about 2 hours later the Swap Magic disk is being read but when ever i put in my backup i tried earlier it said invalid ps2 disk i also tried SVR08 and it didnt work either.

-2 hours after that i tried again now the ps2 disks are working but when ever i get to the game it goes to black screens except for SVR08 it has a flickering loadig screen.

- I also tried regular games guitar hero and KH2 and they both play fine for a while but soon go to black screens aswell.

Please guys any help would be appreciated

I have the slim ps2 with swap magic 3.6, and had no issues like this before. Did you make your own set of magic keys?

There are threads on here about the PS2 slim using a fliptop and Swap magic. Some people had issues because the fliptop was not placed properly. You could do a search for those threads.
Memorex is not really the best media to use either.

Also your flickering or black screens are probably a region thing. Being you have PAL games on a NTSC PS2.

First off you wasted money on that stupid flip top. I dont see why people buy them, it only encourages more to be distributed. Toss it in the trash and get a ghost case. It is the best thing to do if you are useing swap magic and not a chip.

Second sony is the best media for burning. Get some sony DVD-R or CD-R's and you will be golden even at a higher speed but it is best to just deal with the time it takes and record at the slowest speed the software you are useing lets you.


Use Nero to burn and Sony for the discs. It sounds like the media you used crapped out the laser. Dont use cheap media cause it will do damage to the slims fragile lens.

When you say you used regular games do you mean original copies? If the originals arent working, either the media destroyed the lens or the lens was on its way out anyway.

But dude PISS on that stupid flip top and get a ghost case next time. I have said this in almost every single post I made over the last few days but now I even just simply use sticky tack to trick the console into thinking the lid is shut.
