Hey everyone,
I'm new to this forum but not new to backing up my games. I've backed up a bunch of my kids games but they got a few new ones for Christmas and I can't get good backups. The games are MX vs ATV Untamed, ATV Offroad Fury 4 and Cars Mater-nationals. Just trying to back up the MX vs ATV game I can't get anything to work. The original works great but the backup won't boot. The other 2 are the same. No worky!!!

For ripping/burning software I've tried DVD Decrypter and CloneCD to no avail. For media I've tried Memorex (2nd Class) and Sony (1st class media) to no avail. Man, this has worked in the past but these new games are giving me fits.
My PS2 is a V14 or 15 SlimPS2 with a Matrix Infinity chip. All of my backups to date work fine in it. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Ron

Try a Verbatim or a Taiyo Yuden disc and see if that helps.

If the disc is 16x burn it at 8x, if it is 8x burn it at 4x.

I'll first try Nero Ultra 7 and see if that works. If not, I'll look for Verbatim this weekend.
Any "anti-copying" code that may be on these discs? If so, what cracks it?

Well, Nero 7 yielded the same non-booting results. It's hard to believe it's the media, since I'm using better quality now than the ones that I backed up on in the last year or so. The same games that STILL boot.

Sony media with Nero 8 ( burning rom not express or the other shlt ), and keep it slow. I just did a bunch of new games and unless I make a error myself they all work fine.

Delmorte, are you using a Slim PS2? Is your box chipped or are you using Swap Magic? I was using the Nero 7 smart start but am trying to burn at 4x using the Burning Rom now. We'll see how it works in a few. I'm up to my neck in coasters!!

I've read alot of stuff about rebuilding games that are large but is this needed if running a mod chip? I have a Matrix Infinity chip.

Update: NERO Burning Rom at 4X still did not work. And I read Alkohol's post that mod-chip systems don't need rebuilt games. I can't believe I'm having so much trouble. I backed up my NHRA Drag Racing game again today using Sony DVD-R's at 8X and it works fine. WTF!!

I'm speachless.....

Thanks for the reply.

I had the been useing a 77001 slim now I got the newer 79001 slim and I use swap magic 3.6.

I dont know what to tell yah then dude you must be doing something wrong. Use that Nero 8 and makesure its on burning rom and not start smart or express. Nero 8 is the start smart from what I can tell and if you highlight and right click you could select burning rom. Then do it slow. Other than that you must be ripping it wrong or you have the wrong settings or something.

Maybe something is wrong with the original. I have had some orginals that had been scratched work fine but not work when I burned them. I assumed that the scratch caused problems with the ripping.
