N DS Lite, power prob

OK I just found our lost white DS lite. Its been 10 months since it was last used. It was found in a bag where we stored cloths, I guess someone must have put it there when we move to our new house.

Now heres the problem, when I put the charger in (its the official Nintendo Red/Black DS Lite Charger), it lights up orange for 1 sec then it gone. I figured it must be the battery. I open up the battery and remove the battery and put the charger in, same thing, 1 sec orange light. Well PSP still powers up w/ out battery if the charger is still in so I thought it should also works the same way as the DS Lite.

What gives? Can someone help with this one?
