Theme Converter 1.0.0 not loading bmp's

I was trying to make my own theme for my 3.71 M33-4 PSP, with PSP Theme Converter version 1.0.0 and everything goes fine until I try to load a background or preview. Both of these are Bitmap (.bmp) files. All the .png's worked fine. Now I know all the settings are right because I tried it in version 1.2.0 and it worked fine. But I need to do it in 1.0.0 because 1.2.0 is for Firmware 3.80+. When I try to load in to 1.0.0 it just stops and when I click in the window it comes up not responding. I am running Windows Vista if that makes a difference. I really need some help here, thanks.

2nd PSP: 2.0 > 1.5 > 3.40 oe-a > semi brick > 3.40 oe-a > semi brick > 3.40 oe-a > semi brick > 3.40 oe-a > semi brick > 3.40 oe-a (was semi bricking evertime i went into the recover menu) > deleted Flash1 > 3.40 oe-a (working perfectly) > 3.71 M33-2 (Via. Pandora's Battery) > 3.71 M33-4 > 3.71 M33-4 (With 1.5 Kernal add-on) > 3.90 M33-3 (With 1.5 Kernal add-on)

It must hav pure black (0.0.0) in it somewhere because I think that must be the reason. I just lightend the picture and it worked fine.
