lol thanks for the warning, i was thinking of putting it on my psp but obviously it is bad. Most games that are based on movies are horrible.

It's not really based on the film, more like co-inciding with the film, but based on the book. It's basically just a movie-tie-in, and to date there has never been a good one...

lol i dont think he bought it. besides, just stay away from any games that have to do with a movie/book, esp. movies. they almost always, and i stress, ALWAYS suck. i dont think there will ever be more than 10 games that are based on a movie and are good.

Games made after a movie = fail
Movies made after a game = mega fail (Resident evil is excusable because of Mila Jovovich SP?)

Well, i didn't even know there was a game of Zathura until right now, can't say i've even watched that film anyway because it didn't look very good (plus only rated 6.3/10 on IMDb). When i was a younger kid i do have to say that Jumanji was quite enjoyable, though i can't say i'd probably think the same today, therefore not wanting to see Zathura.
Looking at the C|NET review of the Xbox version of the game, (getting a score of 5.7/10) it doesn't seem promising...

I read the books in the series the Golden Compass is based on many, many years ago... didn't bother seeing the movie, thought I might get a slight taste from the game. How wrong I was. Ran around in the snow for 3 minutes and promptly 'returned' the game from whence it came.

Spot on - Hitman, Doom etc. are great examples.

I can't say i'm much of a fan of Philip Pullman and have never read the "His Dark Materials" trilogy (on which the film is based), but my brother has, and watched the film - aparently it doesn't do the books much justice, but then that's the same with most film adaptions...
EDIT: Well, i just found out something new :) I thought they'd decided to call the film something random, but the first book named "Northern Lights" in the rest of the world, is called The Golden Compass in North America. Ahhh damn hollywood, why couldn't they call it Northern Lights and stop the rest of the world being confused :P

Oh right - I know it as 'Northern Lights' too. Many film names are changed when taken in and out of America - I don't get it either.
For example: "Lucky Number Slevin" in America, "The Wrong Man" in other places eg. Australia). "Harry Potter & The Philosophers Stone" became "Harry Potter & The Sorcerers Stone" in American.
Weird.
