What is the best placement for my subwoofer?

The sub is downward firing - does that make a difference on carpet?

What position optimizes the bass?
Is the bass affected by the couch or coffee table?
Where is usually the best spot to place it?

Depends on individual rooms, and their acoustics.
Everyone has to try the sub in different positions, to see which sounds best. This could take days, to get it tweaked just right.

Also try turning the port of the sub, in different directions, while in each spot. You'll just have to play with it......
