With the backing up programs set the target as the external HDD. Then rip away.

Ok, but I do not know which programs to use, I mean I'll pay for something as long as the price is reasonable, i just want a program that is reliable and will get the job done (will work with vista)

Have to say that made me laugh out loud my wife asked what I laughed at. Read it to her and laughed some more!
I use the software that iluvendo directed you to, with the execption of VOB. The programs are pretty easy to use. ANYDVD and CLONE2 are programs that you have to pay for after the initial 21 day trial period.
Thanks for the laugh jshinevar!

I didn't reburn the dvd, i just wnated to copy it to my external HD so that it could play in Vista, I used DVD Fab Decrypter, then I used VOB Blanker, then I used DVD shrink, and I still have something thats not even recognized by windows... Do I need to use another program to convert them to mpeg or wmv? I downloaded the trial version of xilisoft and it works fine but it costs money and it will only convert like the first 20 minutes of the file... But it does convert the Video.TS file into a Mpeg file... Do you know of any other programs I could use...

If you ripped to HDD as an ISO, you can use VLC to play it. You can also play the VOB files without coverting them. Use MPC, VLC, WMP should also work.
If you do want to convert them( and not because you can't play them), but because you might want to save space or something, you can use AutoGK . Is free.

I don't know how to mount an ISO file onto any other program, lol, I'm sort of a newb to these type of things, i more of a web page designer and a little bit of programming, when it comes to computers... Thats what i used to do at least, Hence the name, X_Geek...
Also, will that program, Daemon Tools allow me to play this file in Vista, remember, I want to have these files in one storage unit that is connected to my home network, I plan to play these files using Windows Media Center in Vista on any system in my house connected to my network... I think that other program AutoGK just might work, although I have not yet had time to try it out... Again, i am just looking for something to get these files to a Mpeg, WMV type file
