So here's what I'm wanting to do. I want to build a computer to store all of my ripped DVDs to be played using Cyberlink PowerDVD and shoot it through my TV. I have a 42" Dell Plasma HDTV that has HDMI, component and VGA connections. I would want to hook up my computer to my TV preferably through component, since I wouldn't neccessarily be needing 1080p because I will only be watching DVD content through my computer. I read that the max resolution for a DVD is 720p. Can anyone varify if that is true, and if so, do you think a video card that can support at the most 720p would be good enough for my HDTV which supports up to 1080i? I want to get the exact same DVD quality as I would get as if i were just playing it through the physical DVD player. Would a 720p video card be good enough, and can anyone recommend any, and also recommend a good sound card that can be used with 7.1 surround sound and an optical port from the video card to a home theatre system?

Also, would you lose quality if you get a great 720p video card with DVI and use a DVI-to-component adapter?
