I used dvd shrink and decrypter for about a week and everything worked fine. But now when i start to backup the dvd on the hard drive, the mini screen goes black and an error reads 'failed to read file "E:/" data error (cyclic redundancy check)' and it stops backing up. any ideas? thanks

Cyclic redundancy usually means a bad or scratched disc. Try to clean it then try again.

Does this happen to more than one disc or is this the only one??

Dvd Shrink hasn't been updated in years. It could be an encryption problem that Shrink cannot handle by it's lonesome.

Yes, DVD Shrink hasn't been updated in years, and Dvd Shrink is used by many people.
There are lots of DVD backup,DVD copy tools on the markets.
We can find through google.
Or read some reviews about all popular DVD backup,DVD copy tools(Win/Mac) .
It is easily for you to choose a best one.
I think it a good method.

In about %95 of my backups, Shrink is a part of the process. I just use something newer to break the encrytion first. Shrink is a wonderful tool and well worth using.

@garrett
what titles are you having trouble with? As i said before, if they're newer titles the encryption may be too much for Shrink by itself.
My preferred method is as follows:

Rip to HDD using DvdFab Hd Decrytper (freeware)
http://club.cdfreaks.com/f116/dvdfab-4-0-3-6-beta-235340/

Transcode with Dvd Shrink

Burn with ImgBurn (freeware)
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_so...ols/imgburn.cfm

And here's a step by step guide to help you through the whole process. Omit the VobBlanker, FixVts step unless you're an extremeist, like i can be sometimes.

Make sure you're using the newest version. An update came out today.

Does it show an error of some kind? More info please.

Wow, so glad I came across this thread. I was LOVING and using ripit4me for a long time... i LOVED the "make DVD jump to menu" option, but ripit4me is not working with new releases anymore and the updates and forums for it were discontinued.

hopefully dvdfab will work for me now. :) thx for the info!
