Staples here in Charlotte haven't had TY Sony disks that I've ever seen, as a matter of fact, have only seen two spindles of the TY disks (16X) and they were both at CompUSA. (Price match anyone?) Just remember to look for the white octagonal spacer on top of the -R variety, as well as the Made in Japan moniker. Good Luck hunting.

I haven't seen Sony Ty at my local Staple's in over a year.I've still got 300 stashed away.
I'll still take those SonyD21's anyday. I got 1 inkcart to take in,so I'll be hitting staple's tomorrow..

Doubt it, but it can't hurt to look. I haven't seen 8X Sonys in any of the mainstream electronic/office stores in quite a while.

Playr- True True !!! But it Kinda takes the fun out of the hunt !!! Kinda like Deer Hunting over the internet !!! But you did get a good deal so that's a good thing martha !!!!!!!!!- It's mainly dogged persistence and sheer luck to find Taiyo Yudens in Their SOny or Fuji MIJ form but it's a real Rush , a treat , and a Good measure of Fun when you do !!! Like a Easter Egg hunt without the rotten egg smell if you miss a few here and there !!! I get you point though Cheers !!!!!!!!

I didn't bother with staple's today. Office Depot has their brand name media on sale, $19.99 per 100 pk. I picked up the last 6 spindles of +16x,used my last HP ink cart and I'm stocked up for a couple months. Also picked up a 100 pk of Maxell cd's for $15
I don't hit Office depot much,it's a lot further than staples,but I asked them what empty ink carts they give $3 off. They said they are no longer taking epson's,but pretty much the empties that staple's takes: HP,Dell,Lexmark.

saugmon- Yeah I think They have to be Ink Cartridges= Like the 3 colors all in one and black by itself Like lexmarks ect...as opposed to ink tanks like Epsons & Some Canons where each color is in its own individual cartridge. Also you might already know this but some 0f the newer members may not ? If you have a DEll Printer that's made by Lexmark you have to buy the Dell Branded cartridges for it Lexmark branded cartridges for the same model in their line will not work in the Dell Version ! And the Dell cartridges are more expensive from what I understand ! Me I use compatibles/Generics in my Epson Cx-7800 and they work great ! and they're lot's cheaper too ! - Keep on Truckin' Lil' Green Pollywoggian pal ! & see ya' around The Swamp!!!!!!!!!!

"Branded"? If you mean are they Sony Branded, Yes. They have Sony right on them. They are Very Good Media too!

Yes. I was just wondering how much print they had on the disc. I can live with sony being on them, but I don't want something that has lines and designs all over the surface.

I'd say regular sony media has smallest labeling/trademark logos.
Culchie: If you want discs that don't have any etching/writing on them,then look for the silver thermal lacquers..You can get the Ty thermals for under 25-30 cents each for the dash format on the web. They were under 22 cents each a couple years ago.Plus format will be a little higher.

Also check meritline.com and rima.com for the cheapest price.
Verbatim also makes them.The batch I got looked had a mirror surface.
I got into a couple batches of both.Lots of surface to write on with a sharpie and top notch media. Some people may even slap sticker labels on them,but that's risky.

Thanks for the info. I use DVD+R. I have been using Verbatim thermal and love them. I just thought if the Sony's didn't have so much junk on the surface, that I would try them for that good price. Thinking about trying some Ritek double sided too. Heard any good or bad things about them anyone ?? Thanks Again.

sonys are my absolute favorite!!!! i went last night to get 2 100 packs and they were completly sold out!!!! :( so to make up for it they put memorex on sale for same price... i bought them b/c i only had 2 black dvds left at home...i hope they work good, anyone use memorex -r's?

what do you mean the sony's have so much junk on the front of them? i love them not only b/c of quality, but also b/c they do not have anything on the fronts! sony is written on the bottom real small and blends with the disc color and the rest is just a creamy color... ?
i also hate dvds with a bunch of bulky writting and disigns, like the memorex i just bought are silver with little silver squares all over the fronts... i hate that

anyone use memorex -r's?
Their +16x are Ricohs. I'm not sure about their dash 16x. You can tell us what they code.Use this free program:

Write in very tiny letters on the edge, not on the hub, but on the outside edge, they are a little thicker than standard DVD disks to facilitate bigger lettering.
