Hey there, i have been burning dvd videos for a long time and havent had any problems for years. but i got a new laptop a few months back and recently started to burn dvds on it. strangely i burnt a dvd about a week ago that had about 5 minutes worth of the video missing towards the end. when lookin at the disc you can clearly see where the data hanst been written. its hard to describe so ive uploaded a photo which will hopefully make it easier to understand!

Here.
i had burnt a couple of fails recently aswell but i had just put that down to bad media, but i am now wondering if the problem is related as the two fails, failed around a similar point to where this disc has a problem, about 75% into the process. i am using nero burning rom to burn the dvd files, i am also certain the dvd files are fine which i am burning, as i have used this software for years without any problems. and if i burn the same files on a different computer i dont have a problem,
I copied Nero Write Error details which i can send if it will help?
thanks, james.

that's down to the media..

last year i bought loads of boxes of real old blanks CD's that were unopened but a few years old. I had a few discs like that in a few of the boxes; however i'm not making a blanket statement saying that media degrades over time even if unopened; far from it, i have shelves full of 3year unopened Taiyo Yuden discs that i'm only now slowly working thru, they're as good as the day they were manufactured.
