How can I use my TV as another monitor for my computer?

I have a new HP Pavilion dv9000 notebook and it has tv tuner software and hardware so I can hook it up and watch tv on it ect. It doesn't let me however, see my computer on my TV. I want to be able to play computer games and view it on my tv, as well as watch movies. I was wondering if anyone knows what I need to be able to do this. I already have component cords (red, white and yellow) that plug my computer into my tv, but they don't allow me to view my computer on my tv.

Also if I need another special cord would circuit city or radioshack carry it? If not where, Thanks!

Right click on desktop > select properties > settings and enable 2nd display. Assuming you have a TV out graphics card

I have an Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS will that support it? I would assume so considering it has f4 as a way to switch to my monitor. I just can't figure out how to get it to work. I think i need the 7 pronged Svideo double sided cord. Anyone know for sure?

You can use an S-Video cable.
