A few months ago I also purchased multiple versions of PAL Singstar's and searched for a solution on the boards to fix the problem of getting the sync right. Well, after purchasing all the needed components, I finally worked out all the bugs. It works perfectly. I will tell you more detailed direction if you decide to take this route.
Ok, there are 3 things you need for this to work properly.
1. A Swap Magic DVD Disc (ver. 3.6 or up)
2. A Set of Magic Key II (v12-v15) for the Slimline PS2 (Tools allow you to keep the DVD lid open while swapping discs. Your PS2 tools may vary depending on the model #)
A Warning: I bought my set from Mod-chip.com, but due to the modding crackdown, they no longer support and offer the package, but other online companies still do!
3. A Cyberhome DVR-1600 Player, (they are all over Ebay, but BEWARE of this electronic component, do not buy from seller if it has been used! This player is know to be very problem-matic and many are in poor inoperable condition. Many sellers are dishonest about the condition. You will need to have the remote to access the players menu options.)
When you have all your pieces to the puzzle, do the following:
1. Hook the cables from your PS2 to the Input 1 on the DVR-1600.
2. Next hook up the cables from Output 1 on the DVR-1600 to your television and stereo.
2B. On the DVR-1600 Menu, select your input and output connections.
3. Install the Magic Key tools on your PS2.
3B. Insert the Magic DVD Disc and wait for boot screen to appear. (When this appears, the PS2 drive will stop and allow you to swap for your game disc.)
3C. On the boot screen, DO NOT CHOOSE PAL or NTSC, leave the option as NORMAL.
4. Hit (X) and you game will begin to load!
That's it! Your screen might need to be adjusted just a little, but the PS2 plays it in PAL format with video and audio together perfectly. The DVR-1600 then converts the signal of both to NTSC on the output. From there, you can run output audio direct to your home theater, and output video direct to your bigscreen and sing away, all in PERFECT SYNC! (Remember, the key is all video and sound from your PS2 run into the converter first!)
ENJOY!
Last Note: I did not try the simple PAL-NTSC converters on Ebay, but I think they would do the exact same thing as the DVR-1600.

Hey Akshil,
Yes, you got it! If you get a Pal > NTSC converter like the Cyberhome DVR 1600. It has a firewire or RCA input on the front, converts the signal to NTSC on the output, so your TV can have video and sound in sync.
Like I said previously, Ebay has cheap PAL > NTSC converters for around $30 or so, which basically do the same thing. I saw on a different thread that someone has already done what I did, that is how I'm able to confirm it works perfectly with a Cyberhome DVR-1600.
http://www.console-exploits.com/forums/s...a47ccb08&t=6064
My DVR-1600 on Ebay was about $60.
I saw alot of people having problems with the PS2 Pal SingStar games not working here in the U.S. With no support in sight from the developers or manufacturers about a solution that they will back other than their lame excuses and explanations that they are non-compatible. HOGWASH! I think it is about time for others like me to know there really is a way to do it.
Best of luck!

Hey Jemil13,
Yeah, I read alot of reviews about this product also. The problems that this component had are stunning. "No Disc" when the disc is in, along with not being able to us the menu without having a remote. I purchased a used one and returned it before I finally got a new one, the seller said it the used one worked perfectly, only to lie and me finding out it had no picture on the television screen. It is tough to experiment on what works when you don't have all the working pieces. So BEWARE! I purchased mine from zinc1976 on Ebay.
I believe if you can't get a new unit or don't want to hassle with sellers specifically on the Cyberhome DVR-1600. You could look at getting a PAL > NTSC converter. A dis-advantage to this is that the basic converters only use RCA connections vs. the Cyberhome 1600 using S-Video, Coaxial, or Component outputs.
I think any converter component will work as long as you use the Mod-chip and the tools also.
I expect that people such as yourself will find other ways to get around the barriers that the manufacturers have established in the industry.
Voice your ideas when you get it to work!
Good Luck,
Doc

Hey Jemil,
2 words, (BUYER BEWARE)
If it doesn't say (excellent, NIB) and seller has anything less than perfect feedback, I wouldn't risk your time or money.
As far as your question goes, yes if it is a (No Disc) error, it wouldn't matter about the disc drive, you just need the converter aspect of it only.
But.... (again, I stress this point) if it does not meet this strict criteria,
1.) the buyer does not state condition (used, new, etc.)
2.) No remote
3.) Multiple negative feedbacks on profile
4.) No condition of refund
5.) A REAL description (Not the copied manufacturer specs)
6.) A REAL picture of the product
this will be of no good news for you...I would look at another auction.
Honestly, I would rather believe a seller who tells me it has an error internally with 100% feedback, than someone with 36000 sales averaging 98.9%, and having 10 negatives a month. Don't be # 11. Use common sense, contact and question the seller BEFORE the auction ends, if you get a vague, grey, ho-hum response in return, then move along. (Ex. If you ask that they plug it in for you and test before you buy and they decline, good sign that they know it doesn't work.) A good seller will ALWAYS help stir up more bidders for their sales, not show a care-less attitude.
These players are constantly posted every week, though there is a small market demand, they are not the high end luxury models so don't waste your hard earned money and pay a small fortune, k?
Good Luck!

I have tried using the dvr1200, but that doesn't seem to do the trick. I wish there was an easier way of doing this. I get a great picture, but the words are going way to fast. I have a Messiah 2 chip in my PS2, but still get the same sync problems. I will keep on trying....

Ok this is my setup:
PS2 w/HDL memory card exploit
NTSC LCD TV (Sharp Aquos)
When I tried to play Singstar Popworld (PAL version) the screen doesn't flicker but the words go way too fast. Will the Cyberhome DVDR fix this problem? I just want to make sure this is is the correct solution. Thanks.

Don't know if that would work but any PAL to NTSC signal converter should work.

So the Cyberhome DVDR 1600 fixes this because it has a built in PAL > NTSC converter? When you talk about other PAL > NTSC converters, do you mean other DVD players or some type of electronic switch? Thanks

That should work since it has it but when I talk about converters I mean things like these:
http://www.censuspc.com/product-pr-6768.html
Do know that the original format of the game MUST be in PAL format. One of the reasons you could be getting the Audio/words out of sync could be that the game was converted into NTSC from PAL.
