ive got a hp dvd writer 420i..it used 2 work great..now it says the dvd i hav in it isnt blank..i can burn data cd's with it..jus not movies..ive read about disabling DMA but thought id ask here first..thnx 4 any ideas..

No you want DMA on :)

It's an older dvd burner so newer like 16x media may give it problems.
What media are you using - like Sony +R 16x?

Here's the latest firmware for - 1.33.
If it's not update then try updating it. But since it's from 2004 it still may not help the newer media.
