OK, I think I might already know the problem, I want some extra opinions. A friend gave me some discs to burn these games on, Guitar hero 3 goes to the initial 'loading' screen and then it goes black.. Guitar hero encore loads incredibly slow and skips every 3 seconds or so, unplayable. I'm pretty sure that it's the media, it's hp lightscribe DVDRs and I purchased some taiyo yuden 8x that are shipping right now, just wanted some extra opinions. thanks for your input!
I would say it's your blank dvd's is why they are not loading or skipping. I tried a backup copy of Guitar Hero 3 on some cheap Memorex dvds and they did just as you said, skipped and such...
Try getting some taiyo yuden or verbatim or Sony branded dvds, that copy of Guitar Hero 3 I mentioned earlier, I re-burned it on a Sony disc and loads faster than the original factory pressed disc.
well, guitar hero 3 doesnt even really load.. you know the beginning when it boots it has the copyright info and it has the little "progress bar".. that fills up and then it pauses and goes black, i've waited upwards of 10 minutes i would say and it remains black, no sound or anything. not sure what's up.. thanks for the reply ph33rzie i appreciate it and i will try the taiyo yudens when they come!
Also, i'm using alcohol 120% to burn these and i have a NEC ND 3550A dvd burner and i also have a samsung writemaster TS-H552B dvd burner but i was told the NEC was better. I haven't updated the firmware but I probably need to from what everyone else says.
