I have noticed that it is very rare that a person posting a problem will report it fixed. This tends to leave the unanswered question "Did it work for him" to passing readers.

I sugest that some way be made that will encurage users to give possitive closure. Even add an Icon next to a topic that will alert readers the problem was fixed. That way passing readers will know that a solution ha been found and will read into it. Also in doing this you may greatly increase the number of users that are on the sight. If they know problems are being solved they will be more likely to join. Nothing like a place that is giving good answers.

I am not saying people never say "It worked". It is very rare that they do. I am aware that there may be a different solution to the same problem in some cases. But seeing that possitive closure was reached then they will be more likely to read it. Everyone is quick to say "it did not work" That is a good thing since it will make more in depth troubleshooting.

Sorry if I said the same thing over and over a bit bipolar on my side. Just trying to not be misunderstood.

Thanks

This is a great idea. However, we are all at the mercy of the owner of the thread. They may elect to come back and validate the fix or they may not. Either way, that's completely their prerogative. Hence, I don't think it's just going to fly...

I try to close threads when they're done, sometimes i put solved in the thread title. But of course this is no good for the majority of threads due to to so many 'hit and run' posters who i can only assume get their answer(s) and scarper..

I very rarely unsubscribe from threads and sometimes they are resurrected (by new posters) a long time after they were last posted to, and still the original posters don't comment back, for the most part.. I guess it's just one of those things
