XP System Recovery causing problems on my HP

I reluctantly performed a non-destructive System Recovery. I had no recovery disks. Stupid, I know.

Now my hard drive still says its full but I cant find any of my media files. Are they still there? How do I get them back? If I can't, how do I free up the disk space?

Also my sound is messed up. I can still hear it but it has way too much treble and is very quiet. I have gone into the different settings and they change but won't go to how they used to be?
