i am trying to format my new 250gb sata harddrive but i keep running into the same message:

Output error file to the following location A:/ghosterr.txt". CANNOT OPEN GHOSTERR.TXT insert diskette (434)
does anyone have advice of how i may go about fixing this problem.
i can re-format my other hard drives and i have only formated one sata hd with a ide/sata converter my system takes ide hard drive but i also have used formated and sucessfully used a sata hd .

it worked for one other sata drives but not for this drive.
i have windows xp operating sys.

Well, I'll try. Seems you are using ghost. Seems the program is wanting to write a file to a:\..
What is your a: drive?
What is the drive letter of that sata drive? Or is it not showing as a drive yet?
Why don't you snag a copy of Partition Magic, and use it to try and partition and format that drive?
I have overcome many problems with it.

im using my recovery cd to format the hard drive,but its not working obviously.
