Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to share an internet connection from an O2 Mobile Broadband USB Modem using a belkin F5D7230-4 i.e. by having the modem connected directly to a pc which is connected to the router. If it is possible can anyone provide a brief discription of how to do it.

Many thanks

Is this 02 broadband a standard ADSL (ie does it come in over a telephone line), if so you could probably replace the modem entirely with the router - if not it still may be possible to use the router just as a router by plugging it into between the modem and the computer.

No, its not adsl or cable, it works through O2's 3G network, like a mobile phone and the modem is basically a small usb device which contains the sim card and transmitter/reciever, it allows you to connect to broadband internet anywhere O2 has a 3G network.

Just to add to my original post, i did have the connection shared using an ad-hoc network, which i could connect to the internet through with another laptop (this did not work that well tho, it seemed to block some sites while allowing others, not sure why). I also had an xbox 360 connected to xbox live throught it, however for some reason which i can not find this connection stopped working (laptop connection as well). the xbox was bringing up a failed notification when looking for the DNS.

I thought a router mabe able to provide a more stable connection, if i can get one at all.

Okay - sadly I cannot help you as I have no experience with 3G USB modems. My gut reaction (I work in ADSL support) would be yes it can be done - but just dont ask me how.
