Hi, i have recently recovered my laptop because there were problems with it. Doing so i reinstalled my favorite media player "the core media player". While everything was perfect and any file format was able to be played before the recovery, now it is not like that. so i downloaded the core media player 4.11(the latest)and it played a few file formats, then downloaded the codecs that i used to use before(again the latest). while i was able to solve the video codec problem and play any video file i am unable to hear the audio. i have audio on any other application except the core media player. now i realize i could download other media players but i perfer to stick with the core. i should note that i hav installed many(10 or so, maybe less) and while there may be conflicts with the codec packages researching it is troublesome. The main codecs i used to use are defiler pak 1.22, xvid codec, divx(the latest free version), ffdshow(2008,01,08, again the latest), also there is a "vista codec" and "x codec" which i downloaded from this site, somwhere. most of the codecs can be found on here or google just by the name. Im just wondering if anyone knows if my loss of audio for the core media player is a codec problem, lack of codec, or how to solve it. Anything? lol.
*side note: running vista basic with a dual core 1.73 ghz processor, 1 gig ram, anything else needed jsut ask.
