Hey guys,

Well I'm going to buy a new HDTV for my room, as i recently purchased a Sony PS3 60GB I love it but the quality really sucks on a SDTV combi, so im looking for a new TV in the price range of about £200 I live in the UK, so perhaps any British people could advise, or should I buy online open to suggestions.

Oh and 200 GBP = 400 USD just about.

Thanks a lot guys, I know some of you are all thinking why doesn't he buy a huge 1080p TV but Its not my main TV just one for my room so I can just have a mate round with or something.

Thanks people!

£200 is pushing it a bit,you can get maybe a 19" for under £200,you would need £300 to get a decent size one imo...

LG 19" M198WA-BZ, TV-tuner, Widescreen, Teletext, 3000:1, 5ms, Black

£175 delivered....

http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.aspx?sku=335039

22" versiosn £242 delivered

Are you going to watch tv like sky on the tv or just games,dvd's,blu-ray films etc?

If its just for the ps3 then you would be better off getting a monitor without the tv tuner...

Samsung 22" LCD Syncmaster 226BW 1680x1050, 2ms, 3000:1 £199

Thanks, those first two look great definitely going to look into it, could you briefly explain the best resolutions for the PS3 most of my games for it only handle 720P so I dont really need larger than that, but im so confused because all the TV's seem to be 1440 x 900, is this better or what?!

And also I want to watch TV on it defo and it has to be HDTV. Thanks sorry If i sound a little noobish well a lot actually but im learning :)

Thanks!

The monitor supports 720p,since 720p is basically a fancy name for 1280x720.but 1440x900 (the maximum resolution of the Lg monitor)is higher than 720p...

Resolution, however, is tied to the second number in the pixel spec. If your monitor displays in 1440 X 900 than the highest resolution your monitor can display is 720p which is pretty good. If you want a higher rez (1080p) you're gonna have to buy a better display...

I would get the 22" version myself for £224 delivered

£200 budget is very little really....

I think you should raise it too £300 or be prepared to miss out on a few features....

Both these samsung's have every feature you need for £238/£283

Thanks dos so much,

Samsung SyncMaster 2023MW - 5ms - 20" widescreen

That model sounds perfect, and thanks for explaining everything too. I currently have a freeview box running on my SDTV that requires a scart socket do I need a scart socket or does TV have built in freeview?

I finally understand the difference between HD ready and HDTV, you know the switch over to digital with that make everyones HD ready TV's, high definition tv channels like SKY HD and stuff..
