my friend had a computer in his storage. he had built it awhile back. then it just shut off. i have it here with me and everything turns on but theres no video. the motherboard is msi 648f neo. its an agp video card and i have reset the bios and still nothing. it has no video out on the motherboard. should i just rebuild it for him? get a new motherboard and cpu? powersupply works well. he only wants it to surf the web. give me your opinions. thanks

does the computer seem to go thru the motions of posting except for no video? disconnect all cables to drives. remove all cards & ram except for videocard & 1 stick of ram, reseat those 2. try another psu to see if get same results. try another videocard even a pci version. check the silver topped can shaped objects that are capacitors that they are flat topped & not domed nor leaking brown stuff.

If the builder included everything, it should have the d bracket with post indicator lights...that would tell you if or where the problem lies. Other than that I would say to find a used-working video card, or i think i saw one at best buy that was only like 10-20 dollars, not great quality but would tell you if the vga is the problem. Maybe try the vga in another computer to see if it functions. Could offer more suggestions but without knowing more about what you are working with, or your knowledge, anything else would just be a shot in the dark.

well i know alot about the hardware. ive just never had a agp card. this is an old computer. i dont know what exactly they did to it. there is no vga plug on the motherboard. the card is the only way of viewing it.
