I have a Sony Ericsson W580i and i would like to use the existing mp3 files on my SD card as ringtones...is this possible? and can someone point me in the right direction?
I had a Sony Ericsson W300i and it was a nice feature to use the music files I had as ringtones.
i use my mp3s as my ringtones on mw w580i. all you do is go into your file manager and go to your songs, highlight the song u want to use, then click more. then you click on use as, then select ringtone
that doesnt make sense. what carrier are you with? and did u recieve the mp3 by bluetooth or did u use a data cable? sometimes if using bluetooth to recieve the mp3 it wont let it be used as a ringtone

Don't know if you've figured this out already, but you can only use files no bigger than 599kb, at least on at&t.
I had that problem with a K700 I had on Vodafone. Although I could listen to MP3s, I couldn't use them as ringtones. They said was for copyright reasons that I was not allowed. It could only play MP3s if they were DRM files.
Yet my next 2 phones, (K750 and W880) both on Vodasone, I could use MP3s as ringtones.
