I need information on how to change my mobo that is Sli enabled to have Crossfire enabled instead. I want to buy a 2nd 3870XT but don`t wanna waste money if I have to buy a new mobo. Just means I'll have to wait 3 - 6 months to have both.

I have heard its possible, but i cannot find anywhere were someone has done it. Apparently they were available from ATi's website, but I can`t find anything.

thanks

you will need a new motherboard that supports crossfire. you cant just change it to support cf.

EDIT: the last part of my post didnt really make sense. my teacher caught me browsing the web and she stopped me.

^ Agreed. You need a motherboard with a chipset that is NOT a 6*0i, so the X38, X48 etc are the way to go for Crossfire.

I believe you can do it with crossfire boards to run SLI (if they're not ATI chipsets) but you can't do it this way round I don't think - new motherboard needed I'm afraid.

Heh, it's 3870, not 3870XT, by the way.

Nope, there's no such thing, they're the standard clock speeds. Overclockers are just retarded and labelled it wrong. A few UK stores have done that. The core they use is indeed the RV670XT, but the card it self is just the HD3870.

Do your homework.

Yeah, those cards are at the same clocks as stock 3870s. Those links you posted are stock 3870s.

Alright then wise guy:
From Overclockers:
HIS HD3870 "XT" 775/2250
Gigabyte HD3870 "XT" 775/2250
OcUK HD3870 "XT" 775/2250
Sapphire HD3870 "XT" 775/2250
Powercolor HD3870 "XT" EXTREME 800/2400

From Aria:
ATI HD3870: 775/2250
Sapphire HD3870: 775/2250
Asus HD3870: 775/2250

The XT does NOT mean overclocked - it's just a mistake on the website.
Stop thinking you know it all.
You got fooled and that's the end of it.
