i have a lite-on sohw-1633s and get this error everytime i try to burn any dvd's

serial # removed by binkie7

Edit out your Serial Number it begins with 1A20-

Try slowing down the burn speed from 8X to 4X
Change the target Size to 4300 mb
Might want to change Media brands (Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim)

It looks like a lot going on here. Try not to multitask whilst you burn.

And the rest i think berryone nailed on the head. Including, but not limited to, the removal of thy serial number.

thanks guys didn't see anywhere the edit post thanks binkie7 i tried what you guys suggested but nothing has worked what i did do that i think has worked was change the jumper from cable select to master and flashed it with firmware from

seams to work so far thanks for all your help but when you put in a dvd windows in mycomputer still says cd-rom does not see it as a dvd

I think Windows XP natively does not support DVD writing, it needs third party software, that's why it sees the DVD Drives as CD Drives. It's all good.
See mine- I've been burning for about 2 years with it, not a coaster.Nothing to worry about.
