DVDfab will rip your files to something called .vob. From there, what I do is run them through DVDshrink to pick out the files from the dvd I want (such as tv shows), as well as rebuilding them (dvdfab breaks each file into 1 GB chunks), as well as allowing me to pick the right sound and remove all subtitles. Once that's complete, I use a program called Total Video Converter to convert the .vob to whatever format I want, and by picking the resolution I'm able to decide how large of a file I'm willing to save (a typical movie for me in iPod's format is about 1GB).

Of course, you could buy the full version of DVDfab and it will make the DVD files fit whatever format you'd like I think (not sure if avi is one of the options, I've never used those features).

Here is a guide for DVDFan HD Decrypter:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/494836

If you want to rip to AVI/Divx, here are some free solutiond for you:

StaxRip
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_...ers/staxrip.cfm

FairUseWizard

http://www.fairusewizard.com/lang_en/fai...ht_edition.html

Freez Ripper
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/...VD-Ripper.shtml

AutoGK. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd_to_avi_autogk.cfm

AutoGK is very popular; ocasinally some audio/video sync problems reported. I also heard good things about FairUseWizard . Never used any of them ,I convert the other way, avi/Divx to DVD.
Is this what you need?

Good luck! AutoGK has lots of options. if you get any audio/video sinc issues, most can easily be fixed.
