Hi, I built a computer a couple of weeks ago with a Core2Quad (q6600 B3) and its always hot as it is... but i had a question about something...
I have an 80mm intake in the front, nothing blocking the airflow inside
120mm exhaust, 92mm CPU fan blowing into HS (intel stock, replacement on its way)
and a side 80mm fan blowing in (to bring cool air to CPU fan)
but my PSU fan is blowing directly into the CPU fan... is this correct? It only mounts one way (Corsair 450W) but it seems wrong to have it blowing its hot air into my CPU fan/HS... is this normal?
I know I got the hotter version, but idle temps are still high per core (low 50s doing nothin, low 70s load for about 25 mins)
but I think part of it is that the PSU fan is blowing into the CPU HS fan, which might be affecting its ability to cool the HS properly... so I was just asking if the PSU fan should be blowing in...
other people say that it should be exhaust... but why would the PSU take in hot air? (i dont see a fan to exhaust air out of the back of the psu/case) that doesnt make sense to me, but neither does the blowing of hot air into the CPU fan... but my PSU only mounts one way, and even if I could mount it the other way, the fan would be blowing into the top of the case, to which there is no hole... so that would be bad...
I have reseated the HS onto the CPU probably 10 times, same temps every time... even on AS5 now, with the line method, same temps... I ordered another HS, so in a few days I will install it and post temps... Intel HS sucks...
What tool are you using for measuring the temp? If you're using coretemp, those temperatures are about right as that program reads rather high temps on every CPU.
