The laptop is like 3-4 years old now. I've been shutting down my laptop incorrectly w/ the power switch. :sweatingbullets: (Yea, I know. Bad idea.) I'm pretty sure it have nothing to do w/ viruses. Anywho, now I got a black screen asking to choose the following choices; Safe Mode (etc) BUT none of them work & even when I do select one of the following option, it will blue screen then Windows XP logo appear & -woosh- the computer will just restart all over again; doing the same process. What do I do now? Does it mean I lost all my data now? It's okay if I do as long I can get my laptop back up & running again.

-The laptop screen appeared something like
We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.

If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect yor files and folders, choose Last Known Good Configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked.

If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power failure or because the Power or Reset button was pressed, or if you aren't sure what caused the problem, choose Start Windows Normally.

[Safe Mode]
[Safe Mode w/ Networking]
[Safe Mode with Command Prompt]
[Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)]
[Start Windows Normally]

Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice.

So, I'm hoping there's a computer expert here that can help me out here OR any ideas who I should ask w/ a fast respond.

Methods I'd tried but did not succed. :nohart:
1./ Goggle Search.
2./ Microsoft's website.

BUT it's so weird though~ I tried w/ installation of the recovery the CD and suppose it was doing its job. While waiting for the percentage goes to 100, I'd walk away for abit and when I came back it shut down completely. o__<;; It didn't finish w/ the fixing. Once I turn back on the computer it start over the whole process again.

Black screen > Select Option (any)> Blue Screen (less than 2 secs) > Shut Down > Turns back on by itself > Logo > Black Screen [Repeating pattern]!
Man, this sucks. I'm pretty sure this is easy to fix. I shouldn't been too haste w/ shutting down the computer inproperly. >:D
Thanks.

Your OS is corrupt....

I have repaired a the BSOD with a BART PE disc and did multiple sweeps with its apps for recovering and repairing damaged files. This (BART PE) will also allow you to transfer important files to another drive so you dont loose anything important.

Looks like your in bad shape.

o____o! Aw.. Sounds bad alright. >_<;;
So in other words, my files are corrupted/damaged? That suck. Is there any way for me to get it fix? At least get the laptop up & running again. It's okay if I lost all my data on my laptop, I just wanted to work again. =[ I learned my lesson; to never shut down a computer improperly.

Any more ideas on what I should do? [Besides getting another laptop]

Totally clueless about computers.

If you have recover disc that came with your laptop then all you have to do is stick the discs in and reboot.

If you dont then get a copy of XP and just reload XP.

No need to buy another laptop...unless you feel the need to :P

Sounds bad.

1) Corrupt boot sector. Start PC with XP disk and choose "R" for repair, once you get the DOS prompt type fixboot and hit Enter.

2) Try again.

3) Might be corrupt partitions.

4) Bad HD.

The easiest way is to reload the OS, make sure to delete and recreate partitions; do NOT use "Quick format" and see if setup detects anything wrong with your HD.
